Christmas 2014

Feliz Navidad...
from Our Home to Yours!

Harrel Family 2014

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas...we sure did. We spent Christmas with my mom and sister in Silver City, NM. We had a blast! But it was sure cold in the mountains.

 Tamales 101

For Christmas my family makes tamales and this year the boys were old enough to participate.

You start with husks that have been soaked in water and dried.

Then you spread the masa very thin onto the husk.
Masa is Spanish for dough. It is often short for masa de maĆz, a maize dough made from freshly prepared hominy. It is used for making corn tortillas, tamales and many other Latin American dishes.

Next you add your meat mixture. We use pork...your tamales come out very moist and of course...YUMMY!!!

It's ready to be wrapped!

Here are my mom and Hunter working on their tamales. They are busy little bees!

Finally, we have our first batch ready to be steamed! They weren't the prettiest tamales but they sure were delicious!

Hope you enjoy...thanks for stopping by!

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Good Morning! I am so sorry I haven't posted for awhile. This holiday season has been crazy busy for me. I haven't stopped crafting I just haven't had time to post but I have some stuff to share with you today.

Santa Treat Boxes

I found these cute boxes on Erica's site and I just had to CASE them for the girls at work. They are so stinkin' cute! I changed it up. I used the new #135315 Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper for the mustache and some mini black clothes pins.

These were so fun to make and the girls loved them!

Holiday Recipe Book

I wanted to show you these cute recipes books I found at Hobby Lobby. I bought several of these for my family and personalized the front.

Here is the inside...so fun and colorful!

I have shipped out all the Christmas gifts and now I am ready to enjoy this wonderful holiday season with my family:o).

And this is what my craft room looks like right now...yikes!

Hope you enjoy...thanks for stopping by!

Wendy loves the Santa Gift Card Holder...

and so does Paula.

Christmas Gift Card Holder

Happy Wednesday! I love sending gift cards for Christmas so I wanted to show you a gift card holder I created for my workshop using the envelope punch board.

Festival of Trees Gift Card Holder

I used lots of our new Christmas product to make this super cute card holder. The #135823 All Is Calm DSP, #135835 Frosted Sequins, #135859 Tree Punch, #133455 Endless Wishes stamp set along with our #132967 Starburst Framelit and #133774 Envelope Punch Board.

For instructions on how to make the holder please click HERE.

I like to leave out different paper and encourage the girls to let their creativity flow. Paula Johnson created this card holder...way to go!

Hope you enjoy...thanks for stopping by!

Frosty's Top Hat

Brrr! It's cold outside. And I've got just the project to keep you warm today. I found this idea on Pinterest. These are so easy to duplicate!

Frosty's Top Hat

We made these super cute snowman hats at my workshop. The bottom is the #120906 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and the cylinder is a strip of black cardstock 1 3/4″ x 6 1/2″ and 1/2″ wide.

I used a #102300 bone folder to curve the ends of each strip for a smooth rounded hat. Then glued the end with some #110755 tombo. It takes about 20 minutes for the glue to dry. So you can then start on the trim and holly.

I used a 6" x 1/2" strip of DSP for the trim on the hat. And free handed some holly...yeah me! I wanted a pop of color so I used the red sparkle pom pom.

Then I filled the top hat with Hershey kisses :o). Now these are ready to be put in a cello bag with ribbon for my friends.

Hope you enjoy...thanks for stopping by!

The Countdown

Happy Monday! The time has changed along with the weather. Hot chocolate, soups and pumpkin desserts...YUM!!! I know some of you may or may not want to know just yet that Christmas is just around the corner...51 days.

So I am going to get started on some quick and easy stocking stuffers this week! But today I wanted to start with this super cute Santa that I shared with you all last year.

Gift Bow Die Santa

I CASED this project from Amber Geehan last year. And I thought this would be a great way to start the holiday season!

It was fun and easy to make. For the instructions please click HERE.

NOTE: Since the Perfect Pennants Die is retired you will need to make a triangle measuring 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" for the Santa hat.

Hope you enjoy...thanks for stopping by!
